Born in Saint Michael and raised in Bridgetown, Barbados, Rihanna auditioned for American record producer Evan Rogers who invited her to the United States to record demo tapes. After joining Def Jam, in 2005 Rihanna's fame quickly grew when she released her two first studio albums, Music of the Sun (2005) & A Girl Like Me (2006). These albums were inspired by Caribbean music and made it into the top ten of the US Billboard 200 Chart. The third album by Rihanna, Good Girl Gone Bad (2007) comprised elements of dance-pop and established her position as a sex model in the music industry. Rihanna got her first Grammy Award for "Umbrella" which was a chart-topping hit which launched Rihanna into the spotlight. Anti (2016), her eighth studio album, was her first album since her departure from Def Jam. The album was her second US top-selling album and included the smash hit track "Work".
